Parotid abscess with extent into parapharyngeal and masticator space

Findings:

Contrast enhanced CT images of the neck demonstrate poorly defined low attenuation with peripheral enhancement in the left parotid gland extending into the parapharyngeal and masticator spaces. The enhancement is infiltrative. There is mild diffuse surrounding soft tissue induration. The left parotid gland parenchyma enhances more intensely thatn the right side.
