Posttraumatic Myelomalacia

Findings:

Sagittal T2, sagittal T1, and multiple axial T2 weighted images demonstrate a zone of myelomalacia within the mid thoracic cord with overlaying laminectomy defect. The spinal cord has a bandlike morphology from anterior posterior and appears adherent to the dorsal vertebral margin at the upper level of the laminectomy. Patty T2 hyperintensity with volume loss is present within this portion of the thoracic cord.
