Abscess, R Thalamus

Findings:

A bilobed ring enhancing lesion is present within the right thalamus associated with significant surrounding vasogenic edema. The ring enhancing lesions demonstrate decreased T2 signal peripherally, with relatively uniform rim enhancement. There does not appear to be a discrete T1 hyperintense rim associated with these lesions. The nonenhancing core of the ring enhancing lesions demonstrates prominent diffusion restriction. Minimal linear gradient echo hypointense signal is seen along the periphery of the lesions.
