Temporal Bone Fracture, Transverse

Findings:

Multiple temporal bone CT images demonstrate a transverse fracture through the right temporal bone which extends through the internal auditory canal, cochlea, and vestibule. The fracture also extends through the right jugular bulb and the right carotid canal with gas in the jugular bulb and associated partial thrombosis. There is associated opacification of the mastoid air cells and middle ear due to hemorrhage. A small focus of prepontine pneumocephalus is present. The follow-up CT images demonstrate development of gas was in the vestibule, with progressive a pacification of the right external auditory canal, mastoid antrum, and middle ear cavity.
