Chordoma

FINDINGS:

Multiple MR images demonstrate and irregularly enhancing mass at midline arising from the clivus, which shows markedly heterogenous signal characteristics on T2WI.

DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:

Chordoma, Chondrosarcoma, Metastasis

DISCUSSION:

The differential diagnosis of midline aggressive appearing masses involving the clivus is somewhat limited. The presence of stippled calcified matrix on CT might lead to consideration of chondrosarcoma, and the heterogeneity is typically seen with chordoma and chondrosarcoma. Metastases may have variable appearance but typically more infiltrative and less heterogenous.
