Ependymoma
Findings:
T1 iso/hypo, T2 hyper, spotty enhancing mass centered
in 4th vent with prepontine spread via Foramen of Lushcka.
Differential Diagnosis:
exophytic glioma, ependymoma
Discussion:
-5% of all intracranial
neoplasms, children/young adults
-50% fysr overall, high recurrence, soft
insinuating tumor
-more benign subtype= subependymoma- intraventricular,
middle age/elderly
-extension through 4V foramina to CPA or
cisterna magna/foramen magnum, rare seeding (malignant)
-CT heterogenous low atten +/- hemorrhage,
cystic areas, 40% calcified
-MR nonspecific hypo/hyper, heterogenous
enhancement
-70% rule: males, 4th, children, intramedullary
tumors
