Central Neurocytoma
Findings:
A small mass is present in the frontal horn of the right
lateral ventricle which is hyperdense on CT, isointense to gray matter
on T1WI, and enhances brightly.
Differential Diagnosis:
The location, signal, and enhancement characteristics
favor the diagnosis of central neurocytoma. Other considerations include
colloid cyst (wouldn't brightly enhance), intraventricular meningioma,
metastasis, choroid plexus papilloma. Other considerations include SGCA
(no other signs of TS), ependymoma.
Discussion:
-central neurocytoma formerly intraventricular
oligodendroglioma
-predilection for young (<25), F slightly>M
-usually attached to septum pellucidum near
FoM +/- ext to 3rd vent
-50% with calcification, hypervascular,
rare hemorrhage
