Lipoblastic Meningioma
Findings:
Multiple MR images demonstrate a T1 hyperintense mass contiguous with the lateral margin of the right cavernous sinus, associated with signal dropout on fat suppressed FLAIR sequence. There is a small amount of contiguous plaquelike abnormal enhancement along the lateral margin of the right cavernous sinus. There is no diffusion restriction in this region. The mass is well-defined and appears extra axial.
Discussion/Differential Diagnosis:
DDx: Lipoma, Dermoid, Meningioma.
While there is no histologic diagnosis yet on this case, the presence of associated extraaxial enhancement raises the possibility of a rare lipoblastic subtype of meningioma which histologically will show metaplasia into adipocytes with large fat droplets
