Bilateral Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence

Findings:

Multiple thin section temporal bone CT images and modified reconstructions demonstrate marked thinning and zones of dehiscence of the bilateral arcuate eminence, which is confirmed on at least two consecutive thin section images. There is a symmetric flaring of the right superior semicircular canal.

Differential Diagnosis/Discussion:

Thin versus absent bone margin must be distinguished on temporal bone CT, with diagnostic criteria for semicircular canal dehiscence including absence of visible bone margin on at least two consecutive 1 mm or less thickness images.
