Moya Moya Disease

Findings:

Multiple MRA images demonstrate a nearly symmetric occlusive process of the bilateral distal supraclinoid internal carotid and middle cerebral arteries. On the source images, thin irregular collaterals are seen along the proximal stem of the sylvian fissures. The bilateral posterior cerebral arteries are enlarged out to distal branches due to collaterals.

Differential Diagnosis:

The moyamoya type vascularity may be seen with any type of chronic major intracranial vascular occlusive process, but when very symmetric as in this case, is likely related to the idiopathic moya moya disease.
