Cystic Myelomalacia
Findings:
Postoperative changes of posterior fusion are present at C4-C5 associated with partial fusion of the C4-C5 disc space. At the C4 level, there is a well-defined, nonenhancing, expansile zone of CSF signal within the central spinal cord.
Differential Diagnosis/Discussion:
No enhancement and following CSF indicates a benign process, intramedullary cystic lesions may be due to remote insults including posttraumatic myelomalacia. Intramedullary arachnoid cyst would be rare compared to extramedullary.
