Subdural Hematomas with Cerebral Edema

Findings:

A moderate hyperdense extraaxial collection extends over the right cerebral convexity and left frontal convexity associated with mass effect and partial effacement of the right lateral ventricle. The suprasellar cistern and third ventricle are effaced. Superimposed low attenuation with loss of grey white differentiation involves a large portion of the right frontal and parietal parasagittal lobes as well as the left frontal parasagittal region.

Differential Diagnosis/Discussion:

Despite crossing midline, the predominant hemorrhage is localized to the subdural space. The low attenuation can be due to edema or infarction. The third ventricle should always be visible.
