Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) with Colpocephaly

Findings:

Axial noncontrast CT images demonstrate asymmetric marked dilation of the lateral ventricles, particularly the occipital horns and atria, which extend nearly to the inner table of the calvarium.

Discussion/Differential Diagnosis:

P/A ratio: width of posterior horn/width of anterior horn >= 3. White matter volume loss due to remote insult such as PVl. Assd with callosal dysgenesis, pericallosal lipoma, Aicardi syndrome. Pts may present with seizures, motor deficits, visual abnls, cognitive defects.
