Origin of L AICA from ICA
Findings:
MRA source and reformatted images demonstrate a thin arterial structure extending posteriorly from the left cavernous internal carotid which follows the expected course of the left anterior inferior cerebellar artery.
Differential Diagnosis/Discussion:
The presence of arterial signal within the cavernous sinus on MRA indicates either shunting or an anomalous vessel. If linear, a vessel should be considered, and expected anatomic vessels should then be identified to determine the presence of a congenital anomalous course or origin.
